Methodology, Fake Learning, and Emotional Performativity

Purpose: Academics are at the forefront of criticisms about so-called “fake news” considered to undermine evidence-based approaches understanding complex social, political, and economic issues. However, universities contribute production fake news through legitimization measures that promote student performativity rewarding their academic non-achievements. This conceptual article will seek illustrate how this can occur via writing methodology chapters by postgraduate students. Design/Approach/Methods: provides a critical analysis in dissertations theses education social sciences. In so doing, it applies concept learning. Findings: It is argued pressures on students comply with requirements emotional respect ideology method close-up, qualitative research lead phenomenon may be exemplified reference number practices, namely, phony positionality, methodolatry, ethical cleansing, participatory posturing, symbolic citation.
